An Interview with Priest Hector
JustificationI chose to interview Hector because I thought it would be very interesting to interview a priest since religion is a very controversial topic. I also thought it would be fascinating to know the point of view of a priest from his own country, including the economy, politics and even the most controversial topics and in a way contrary to the church such as homosexuality. I also decided to interview Hector so I could interact with a person from another country and practice my english reading and writing.
BackgroundThe Republic of Philippines is a country located in Southeast Asia and it is conformed by almost 7100 islands, all of the islands are classified in 3 sets or regions (Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao). Philippines is a country with a variety of ethnicities since most of the early inhabitants where half blooded thanks to different migrations.
Filipinos have catholicism as their main religion since Spain colonized Philippines and ruled it over 3 centuries. Currently the Philippines would be a quiet country but a war to end drug trafficking is in process.
Hector was born and raised in Philippines, his family had the average income and he started his ordination (studies to be a priest) at age 24.
Interview
Conclusion
Nowadays information can be obtained very easily through the Internet, but the most detailed and interesting information lies in the brain of people, in their memories, experiences and anecdotes. When doing this interview I did not just look for information, the information came to me through the knowledge and memories of Hector and I think the info you receive that way is unforgettable.
I think that doing this interview helped me to know more about the Republic of the Philippines. I was surprised at how much the Philippines and Mexico have in common (religion and importance of the family) and I would like to travel there in the future.
